APPOINTMENT TO THE POST OF GENERAL COORDINATION OF THE REGROUPEMENT DES ARTS INTERDISCIPLINAIRES DU QUÉBEC

Montréal, October 16th, 2014 – The board of directors of the Regroupement des arts interdisciplinaires du Québec is pleased to announce the hiring of Ms. Sonia Pelletier as general coordinator of the RAIQ. Sonia is filling a management position left vacant by Lise Gagnon and whose interim was taken on by Véronique Lévesque Pelletier over a year ago.

Sonia Pelletier is active at the heart of many Quebecois cultural organisations, having worked in the field of arts actuels as accomplice, project coordinator, art critic, curator and independent editor since the early 1990s. Her writing has appeared in numerous publications, notably Le Devoir and many Quebecois cultural journals dedicated to art. Of note among her more recent works, is the one produced in collaboration with Michel Lefebvre and Bernard Schütze about .(La Société de Conservation du présent), (1985-1994) (Agence TOPO, 2013).

After a year focused on mediation activities, with Les journées de reflexion CHAOS as a major mobilisation project, the RAIQ is getting ready to celebrate, in 2015, 10 years of action in favour of interdisciplinary arts. Under the leadership of Sonia Pelletier, with Véronique Lévesque-Pelletier at the head of workshops coordination and membership drives, the new team will form a common front with the board of directors to work torwards improving the work conditions and lives of interdisciplinary artisst. The Regroupement intends to double its efforts in defense of interdisciplinary artists and organizations, pursue its professional development activities geared to artists and actively participate in increasing the influence of interdisciplinarity in the public sphere, in political activities and in the media.

We wholeheartedly thank Véronique Lévesque-Pelletier for the many challenges she has faced in the past few months and wish Sonia Pelletier the warmest welcome. We are confident that, together, they will represent the Regroupement with the finesse and intelligence that is manifest of their bright careers and the sincerity of their commitment to Quebec’s artistic community.
